Home > Module 3

Module Objective

After completing the module, parents will be able to identify at least 1 sign of hunger and 1 sign of fullness in their baby.

Babies will show signs of hunger or fullness by using different sounds and movements. Knowing these cues is important to tell when and how much to feed your baby.

Your baby may be hungry if he/she

  • Opens mouth when food or spoon is near
  • Reaches for food or spoon
  • Points to food
  • Gets excited when presented with food
  • Expresses a desire for specific foods with words or sounds

Your baby may be full if he/she

  • Shakes head
  • Turns head away from food
  • Does not open mouth
  • Pushes food away
  • Uses hand motions or sounds to express fullness
